If you’ve been thinking of blazing some new Perth 4×4 tracks, you probably aren’t looking for the same kind of terrain that you have in your neck of the woods.
So we found some Perth 4×4 tracks that are completely different than what you are used to and will definitely get you started on an adventure you won’t soon forget.
Cervantes & The Pinnacles: First of all, let’s talk about the Pinnacles. The Pinnacles is located about 200 km from Perth, in the Nambung National Park. The best way to describe this place is BIZARRE. Look at some pictures of the Pinacles online and you will be compelled to go there and ride around on the Perth 4×4 track that snakes around it to look at the limestone tree stumps that poke out of the yellowish sandy desert here.
“there are some tracks around nearby Cervantes that are more challenging, like the Stockyard Gully Caves; and on the weekends there is quite a gathering of Perth 4×4 enthusiasts at Thirsty Point”
Admittedly, this Perth 4×4 track isn’t so much of a challenge, since you aren’t allowed to venture off of it, but it is something to experience. However, there are some tracks around nearby Cervantes that are more challenging, like the Stockyard Gully Caves; and on the weekends there is quite a gathering of Perth 4×4 enthusiasts at Thirsty Point and other local haunts.
Lancelin: Lancelin is a small fishing town about 127 km north of Perth, and the reason to go there is for the sand dunes. The area set aside for Perth 4×4 vehicles in the sand dunes is huge and the dunes shift daily so the experience is never the same. There are also tracks that go to the beach and there are plenty of accommodations here, so plan to stay for a few days.
WIlbinga: Wilbinga is about 70 km north of Perth, so it is the closest place to go beach driving. The great thing about WIlibinga is that after you are through with your Perth 4×4 adventure, you can find a place on the beach that is all your own. There are a lot of steep tracks over the dunes here, which is what makes it exciting, but there are also chicken tracks if someone gets squeamish.
